‘Tis the season of enchantment, thanksgiving, and abundant joy! The holidays are quickly approaching, and not only do they bring candy, food, and presents, but they are the perfect opportunity to fundraise for a worthy cause. Lucky for you, we know just the cause you’re looking for!
Holidays remind us how blessed we are, and they also remind us to bless others. In fact, the reason we are blessed is to bless others.
“God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others… Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous…” 2 Corinthians 9:8, 11 NIV
We came up with a few ways that you can use your talents and resources to bless our friends in Africa.
Costumeless for a Cause
We think you’re awesome, so why not simply be yourself for Halloween? Then donate the money you would have spent on a Halloween costume to Blood:Water at fundraise.bloodwatermission.com/costumeless! Print copies of this flyer to give to anyone who asks why you’re not wearing a costume while you trick-or-treat.
Don’t forget to post a picture of yourself using #costumeless and encourage your friends to do the same. Let them know why you’ve decided not to buy a costume this year, and share your support for our vision to end the water crisis in Africa!
Giving Tuesday
Are you spending Thanksgiving with your family this year? Let them know about Blood:Water! If you love the work that our partners in Africa are doing as much as we do, share it with the people you care about most.
Giving Tuesday is five days after Thanksgiving, so you can encourage your family to save some of the money they might have spent on Black Friday or Cyber Monday and give it to a worthy cause! Donating is easy at bloodwater.org.
Warmth for Water
If you’re familiar with our Lemon:Aid campaign, buckle… I mean… bundle up for this idea: make a hot chocolate stand to fundraise for clean water in Africa! Kids and adults alike love hot chocolate on chilly winter days, so your stand is bound to be a success. Talk to the owner of your local mall, grocery store, or Christmas tree lot, and ask if they might let you set up your stand near an entrance for maximum impact!
Be sure to share the date, time, and location of your hot chocolate stand with your friends and family, so they can be a part of blessing our friends in Africa with clean water too! To promote your stand and give people a place to donate even if they can’t make it to your stand, create a fundraising page at bloodwater.org/makemymove.
If your church, school, or organization is hosting a fall festival, set up a booth or just a bucket where people can donate to Blood:Water. Let us know, and we’ll be happy to send you some brochures to help you share Blood:Water with your community!
Have a better idea? We would love to see it! Go to bloodwater.org/makemymove to create a fundraising page for your very own, original idea. Happy holidays from Blood:Water!
