319 MILLION. That is the number of men, women, and children who do not have access to clean water in sub-Saharan Africa. Water, provided alongside sanitation and hygiene training, plays a significant role in building healthy communities, facilitating equality, and advancing the education of the next generation.
40 dollars. That represents the cost of clean water, and sanitation and hygiene training for one person in Africa. It also just so happens to be the same amount of money you’d probably save by foregoing your twice-weekly coffee run.
It’s only 20 days! By pledging to drink only water for the 20 days leading up to World Water Day on March 22, you can help Blood:Water empower our local partners in their work to end the water crisis in Africa by accepting our 20-day water challenge, H:20! When you give up that cup of joe, say “no” to your favorite soda at lunch, or pass on a beer at dinner, and make water your only beverage, you can make a huge difference not only in your own health, but the health of someone in Africa, too.
Just create a fundraising page at bloodwater.org/h20, and donate the money you save by drinking only water, and ask your friends and family to support you. They can even take part in the challenge by joining your team!
If you have questions, feel free to reach out to me at [email protected]! I would love to help.
P.S. Do you own or belong to a Crossfit gym in Middle Tennessee? Create a team for your gym, and encourage fellow members to join in making water their only beverage for 20 days. Not only will the money saved and donated from giving up those other drinks help provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene to communities in Africa, but if your gym raises the most among other competing Crossfit gyms, four-time Fittest Man on Earth, Rich Froning, will lead a WOD for you and your members!
