We are excited to share that we’re saying “hello” to a new member of our team for the summer! Read on to learn more about our newest teammate.

Introducing Maddie Klaus, our new Graphic Design Intern! She is from St. Louis, Missouri, but she has been here in Nashville for the last few years attending Lipscomb University. She is an only child who is close with both of her parents, and she is very grateful that they have been so supportive of her ambitions.

You may also be familiar with or share an interest in some of her favorite things. Her favorite book is A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, her favorite TV show is New Girl, and her favorite movie is About Time. She loves cooking, going to the park with friends, hiking, listening to music and podcasts, and even binge-watching Netflix. If she could only eat one meal for the rest of her life, she enthusiastically chooses a burrito with chips and queso!

Maddie definitely has the creativity needed for her position, and her dream job is somewhere between a graphic designer, photographic, printmaker, or (one day) art professor (especially if it gave her the freedom to travel). She applied for our internship after hearing about the opportunity through a friend and former intern who attends her school. When asked why she wanted to apply she says, “I admire [B:W’s] approach to mission and I was interested in the inner workings of a nonprofit organization! I appreciate its emphasis on partnership alongside other African organizations while debunking the [western] savior mentality.”

We welcome Maddie with open arms and are so grateful for her work, especially in this challenging season. Please also join us in thanking Danielle for all of her hard work and passion this past year. We don’t know what we would have done without her!

P.S. one other fun fact is she is “a huge Harry Potter nerd!”
