Jane Wathome, the founder and executive director of our partner Beacon of Hope, was a guest on Taaka Awori’s podcast, Leadership in Africa Redefined. In September 2023, Taaka led a masterclass on Succession Management for Blood:Water’s partners in Nairobi, Kenya.

“As I did my masters, I decided to focus on HIV and AIDS. And around that time, there were issues of HIV and AIDS, such a crisis in Kenya, you know, 1998, 1999, 2000, we had about 700 people dying every day. And as I did my thesis and did my research, I noted that most of those affected by HIV and AIDS were the poor women who were not educated, who didn’t have a voice.
