A few weeks ago, we said a bittersweet ‘goodbye’ to our summer interns, Allie and Bailey, and ‘hello’ to two fresh new faces! We are excited to tell you that Caitlyn and Danielle will be joining us for the next several months, and we can’t wait for you to get to know them. Read on to learn more about the newest members of our team!
Caitlyn Roseborough – Kingman, Az
Meet Caitlyn, our new development intern! She’s studying Social Entrepreneurship at Belmont University, and if you ever want to talk to her about Irish history, you’re in for a treat!
Why did you apply to be an intern at Blood:Water?
My dream is to work at an organization that helps people around the world in a meaningful, sustainable way. When I first heard about Blood:Water, I thought it was the perfect fit for me because its purpose is to provide people with lasting healthcare and holistic support that will change their lives through locally successful agents.
What is your dream job?
I have a lot of passions like girls’ education, micro-finance, sustainable solutions to climate change, and healthcare for example, but my dream job is to be a chief officer at any organization that makes a lasting impact in one of those areas I care so deeply about.
What is your favorite book?
I love a lot of books, but I’d say that One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest is probably my favorite. It really changed the way I looked at the world around me and made me realize that people have difficulties that it can be hard for you or I to comprehend, but that doesn’t mean we should ignore them or dismiss them as human beings.
What is your favorite pastime?
Reading is probably my most consistent pastime. I can get really into shows (I’m on an Outlander kick now) and I play some musical instruments, but nothing makes me think or learn more than sitting down and making myself read.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I would probably eat some kind of pasta like ravioli, but that’s tough because I can’t eat anything a lot without starting to dislike it. Italian food is my favorite though, so I think if I could eat different types of ravioli or pasta maybe I’d be alright.
Tell us one of your special quirks!
I am a giant history and language dork, and I will get completely engrossed in one of those subjects or talk to you forever about them if you don’t distract me. In particular, I really love Irish history and historical fiction (one of my favorite books is called The Rebels of Ireland), and right now I’m trying to teach myself the Irish language because I think it is so cool how Ireland is trying to revive it.
Danielle Mclaughlin – Campbell, Ca
Meet Danielle, our new marketing & graphic design intern! She just graduated with a degree in Graphic Design from Lipscomb University, and she’d love to grab a dessert with you as long as it’s not cookies!
Why did you apply to be an intern at Blood:Water?
I applied because a friend told me about the position, and I have always loved the idea of working with a nonprofit so this kind of just fit perfectly! I love design and am so interested in learning more about marketing that it was just too good to pass up!
What is your dream job?
I don’t have anything specific, but if it involved design I would love that!
What is your favorite book?
The Road Back to You! I love the Enneagram and it has taught me so much about myself and the people around me. I’ve learned how to love my people better and how to love myself better!
What is your favorite pastime?
Cooking, block printing, hanging out with friends and being outside!
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Fried chicken tacos, chips & queso and sweet tea from Taqueria Del Sol. Best meal in Nashville.
Tell us one of your special quirks!
I don’t like cookies, I’d rather have cake or brownies. Cookies just aren’t worth it.
