Lauren Forrest – Coral Springs, FL
Meet Lauren, our new donor relations & communications intern! She’s currently getting her master’s degree in Global Studies at Liberty University, and if you’re craving sushi, she’s your gal.
Why did you apply to be an intern at Blood:Water?
I have loved this organization since I read the book One Thousand Wells [by Blood:Water’s co-founder, Jena Lee Nardella] about 5 years ago. I have since followed the organization over the past few years, and once I realized I needed an internship to graduate and saw there was an opening here, it was a no brainer to apply. I am so honored to have been chosen for this position.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to be a long-term missionary in Africa in the 10/40 window specifically.
What is your favorite book?
This is such a hard question! If you were to ask my favorite book in the Bible, I would say at the moment it is Jeremiah. It has shown me so much hope, even though I know many may read it and not see much of it, that is what screams at me when I read it. Books outside of the Bible, I would have to go with Whisper by Mark Batterson. It is such a great book that talks about how God speaks to us. I highly recommend it.
What is your favorite pastime?
I really enjoy watching documentaries, some of my favorite topics are crime/mystery and cross-cultural story-based films.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I could most definitely eat sushi for the rest of my life. I love this food with a passion!
Tell us one of your special quirks!
When I get excited I will throw my hands in the air. My friends often make fun of me for it, but I don’t even notice I do it until someone points it out.
Raegan Peluso – Franklin, TN
Meet Raegan, our new social media & marketing intern! She’s studying psychology with a minor in creative writing at Berry College, and if you want some ideas for a music video, she can help you brainstorm.
Why did you apply to be an intern at Blood:Water?
I wanted to intern for an organization that loves others through its work, and values community, transparency, and empathy. I saw that Blood:Water values these things, and more, and I wanted to be a part of a team like that.
What is your dream job?
My dream job consists of having multiple jobs; I would love to work in some type of social work while being an artist, a photographer/videographer, and a writer. I’m not sure if it’s possible to do this all simultaneously, but I have big dreams!
What is your favorite book?
The Book Thief.
What is your favorite pastime?
I love to spend time with my family, be outside, edit videos, draw, and read.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Chicken pad thai with ginger salad and summer rolls on the side.
Tell us one of your special quirks!
When I listen to music, I like to imagine specific scenes that would be in its music video.
