Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention for Women and Their Babies

Overview

This is a treatment literacy guide designed to support pregnant women and mothers living with HIV. It is primarily intended for use by women’s networks, peer educators, and women’s groups to empower and guide women with HIV in making informed decisions before, during, and after pregnancy. However, it emphasizes that it should not replace seeking information and guidance from healthcare professionals at healthcare facilities, underlining the importance of combining this resource with medical advice for comprehensive care.

The guide contains three sections

  • Facilitators manual
  • Flipcharts
  • Poster

The facilitator’s manual and accompanying flipchart are designed for use by support group leaders, peer educators, or lay counselors working with women living with HIV. These resources consist of 12 modules, with each module offering accurate and comprehensive information to empower pregnant women and mothers living with HIV. The goal is to help these women understand their rights and make informed decisions. The flipchart supplements the manual by visually representing key messages from each module for enhanced communication and engagement. The poster can be displayed in community centers, clinics, waiting rooms where it can be seen by women living with HIV.
