Today, Community-Driven Change (CDC) is gaining momentum as a transformative approach that shifts power to local communities, enabling them to design and lead their own solutions. Unlike traditional aid models, CDC centers local knowledge, self-determination, and equity, ensuring historically marginalized groups shape their futures.

In 2023, Bridgespan partnered with eight organizations to explore CDC’s global potential. This report synthesizes evidence from 800+ households in India, Kenya, and South Africa, alongside case studies and interviews, revealing CDC’s profound impact:

   • Post-CDC, 92% of surveyed community members (vs. 72% before) reported initiatives prioritizing marginalized groups.
   • Shifts in social norms amplified underrepresented voices in decision-making.

   • Communities secured non-philanthropic funding, accessed government benefits, and addressed needs holistically.
